STRONG ACADEMIC PROGRAM

At each grade level, our curriculum includes carefully chosen textbooks, hands-on projects, and teacher-prepared materials. Every aspect is evaluated for effectiveness and relevancy.

Reading, language, and writing instruction begins with a strong foundation in phonics and sight vocabulary. As students continue to expand their language arts with a proven series of basal readers and some highly selective children's literature, they reach an independent reading level early in their education. The writing process and independent authorship are given daily emphases, as is oral communication.

Mathematics coursework teaches the fundamentals, as well as the logic, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills needed for mathematical proficiency. These skills are reinforced daily to equip students for higher level mathematics. Students also learn how to apply concepts and functions to everyday situations.
Science classes assume a creationist perspective and give students a basic understanding of, and appreciation for, the created universe. The scientific method is emphasized, and student experimentation and observation are encouraged as fundamental aspects of acquiring scientific knowledge.

In Social Studies, students begin with understanding their own homes and families. From this initial point of reference, instruction expands to encompass the community, followed by the state and the nation. Current events and history are presented at each grade level. Students are also introduced to ancient civilizations. Projects and independent research supplement classroom instruction and coursework.
